Secretary Price and Commodities Punjab, Mr. Ehsan Bhutta, visited Okara to inspect the ongoing development at Shahr-e-Tamer Model Bazaar and chaired a high-level meeting on price control and public relief initiatives.
During the session, Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed presented a comprehensive briefing on the mechanisms in place for price control, the progress on the model bazaar's construction, and other community-focused projects.
Ehsan Bhutta emphasized the importance of sustaining momentum on the price control framework to ensure consistent relief for citizens. He ordered the acceleration of the under-construction model bazaar and called for immediate improvements in market cleanliness and food quality.
He specifically directed the Food Authority to inspect marriage halls across the district to ensure hygienic and high-quality food is served at public gatherings. Strict action was recommended against venues using substandard ingredients.
Market Committee officials were also instructed to ensure the cleanliness of vegetable markets and the uninterrupted supply of fresh fruits and vegetables at government-notified rates.
Secretary Bhutta reiterated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is closely monitoring the availability and pricing of essential commodities. "There will be zero tolerance for overpricing or poor-quality items," he asserted. He further announced that model markets will soon be set up at the tehsil level across Punjab to streamline access to affordable and hygienic food for all.
