The District Coordination Committee convened in Okara under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed to review security arrangements for the holy month of Muharram.

The meeting was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat, officers from the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, and representatives of federal and provincial departments.

Key agenda points included:

  • Monitoring of sensitive religious sites during Muharram

  • Joint patrolling by police and law enforcement agencies

  • Actions against illegal petrol pumps and unregistered LPG filling points

  • Deployment of medical teams at public gatherings

  • Coordination among departments for rapid response

Deputy Commissioner Javed directed all departments to remain on high alert during Muharram processions and majalis. He emphasized zero-tolerance for negligence and urged timely communication between agencies to ensure peace and order.

Officials also discussed emergency medical response, fire safety readiness, and the availability of ambulances near major Imam Bargahs.

The DC appreciated the cooperation of all departments and stressed on public safety as the top priority.
