Pakistan orders 140 million liters of petrol amid fears of Iran-Israel conflict escalation. PSO floats emergency tenders to secure fuel supply.
Islamabad (GN Ghalib News Online) – Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, the Government of Pakistan has swiftly moved to safeguard its fuel reserves. In response to possible disruptions in the global oil supply chain, the federal authorities have approved the emergency procurement of 140 million liters of petrol.
According to official sources, OGRA has directed all oil marketing companies (OMCs) to maintain a 20-day strategic reserve. This measure aims to ensure fuel stability in case the conflict escalates further.
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has issued an urgent tender for 70 million liters, scheduled to arrive at Karachi Port within 10 days. Additionally, another consignment previously planned for July 6 has been expedited to June 26, resulting in a total expected supply of 140 million liters by July 1.
Officials suggest that further emergency tenders may be floated based on how the geopolitical landscape evolves in the coming days.
