Grilled Fish Wraps Cooking Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Fish:

  • 2-3 fillets of a firm white fish (e.g., tilapia, cod, or mahi-mahi)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime

For the Wraps:

  • 4 large tortillas (flour or corn)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce (or mixed greens)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup shredded cabbage (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish:

    • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Rub the spice mixture over both sides of the fish fillets, ensuring they are evenly coated.
    • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the seasoned fish for an extra burst of flavor.
  2. Grill the Fish:

    • Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
    • Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
    • Grill the fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fish.
    • Once done, remove the fish from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Then, break the fillets into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  4. Assemble the Wraps:

    • Warm the tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet for a few seconds to make them pliable.
    • Lay a tortilla flat and place a generous amount of shredded lettuce (or greens) in the center.
    • Add pieces of the grilled fish on top of the greens.
    • Layer on the sliced avocado, diced tomatoes, red onions, shredded cabbage, and any other desired toppings.
    • Drizzle the lime sauce over the fillings.
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves for a burst of color and freshness.
  5. Wrap and Serve:

    • Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then roll it tightly from the bottom to the top, creating a wrap.
    • Serve immediately with extra sauce, salsa, or a side of chips.

Tips:

  • For added crunch, you can include grilled or sautéed vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini.
  • For a different flavor profile, you can swap the sauce for a spicy salsa or mango salsa for a tropical twist.
  • This recipe works well with other fish, such as salmon or shrimp, depending on preference.
