Dahi Bhindi (Okra in Yogurt Sauce) l Cooking l Cooking Recipe

This is a creamy and tangy preparation of Bhindi in a yogurt-based gravy.

Ingredients:

  • 250g Bhindi (okra)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 cup yogurt (curd)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry the Bhindi. Cut off the ends and slice into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds, and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  5. Add the Bhindi and cook until it is tender and slightly crispy.
  6. In a bowl, whisk yogurt with turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  7. Lower the heat and add the yogurt mixture to the Bhindi. Stir well and cook for a few minutes until the gravy thickens.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
